Her first excellent trait is her ability to be empathetic. When I was on the floor feeling defeated and confused, she was so non-judgmental! I felt safe with her to fall apart as another layer of my literary onion painfully peeled away, enabling me to go deeper into my writing and process. She's not exactly a therapist, but somehow after all that emoting, I can pick myself back up and return to the writer's chair, a little less scared.
Her second amazing quality is she can pull a throughline out a bunch of messy pages like finding a needle in a haystack. After I wrote hundreds of pages of nonsense, she artfully surfaced the critical stories and encouraged me to keep exploring. A writer, editor, and collaborator, Alexis Gargagliano is passionate about helping innovative and inspiring people translate their vision into words and stories.
